They only look at your high school grades. If you want to get into a good university (a UNC/UVA/UMD etc..) then be sure you are taking advanced placement level classes. They look at both the grades you got and the difficulty of the class you took. Be sure you can write well, be able to write a succinct essay that gets your message across.

Take the PSAT ASAP to prepare for the SAT and ACT exams.

Getting into the schools like UNC, Davidson, North Eastern etc.. is VERY competitive. If you want to get into an elite school, Harvard, Duke, Dartmouth you need to be in the top 10% of your class and basically ace the SAT. Also, if your thinking about nursing as a career that is probably the most competitive program to get into right now.

They probably won't but they will look askance at someone who confuses "effect" and "affect". Luckily, you have time to get your grades up.

Check out schools that have a conservatory. Although a conservatory does not necessarily mean a good education, it's a good start. I went to Ohio State and got a great education and now I'm an orchestra teacher. I have a friend in jazz studies who is loving it at the University of Tennessee.
The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music is good, as is Indiana University.
There are so many colleges to choose from!
Ask a music teacher at your school - they usually get all kinds of stuff in the mail on the subject.

It really depends on what kind of musical arts you are looking into... musical theater? Conducting? Music Ed? Performance (and if so, vocal, instrumental?)?, Composition?... It actually makes a huge difference to know this to help point you in the right direction.

If you edit your question and I answer you according to your interest.

Normannen is right about Oslo: It's a horrible city, and in my opinion, Norway would be better of if the government, king and Storting were moved to Bergen, that was our capital the beginning.

However, I'm wondering if the University of Stavanger also have Mechanical Engineering available. If it is, then I can warmly recommend Stavanger as a place of study.

The poster above me doesn't speak the truth at all. If you plan to move to Norway permanently, you will have no problems finding a job as a mechanical engineer. The market is screaming for engineers, so its not the same situation here as it is in the US.

Hard to say really, as the five universities we have here are all good. NTNU (Norwegian Technical ...something... university), based in Trondheim, is by most people I would say regarded as the "best" university for engineering studies. University of Oslo and Bergen are also good. Oslo one has always been high in ratings of European universities.

In my opinion, Oslo is a horrible city. I would never want to live there. Bergen is an OK city, and Trondheim is a brilliant place.

You should be as well-rounded as possible. BU wants students who push themselves academically and in extracurriculars.

I got a low SAT score, but I had some awesome references and essays. Not to mention I had a lot of extracurriculars. I had taken three AP classes, but only got credit for one of them at BU.

I didn't go to a pre-college program.

You should have good grades in ALL your classes.
