Just my opinion. Consider environmental engineering. Mechanical enggs are a dime a dozen.

The poster above me doesn’t speak the truth at all. If you plan to move to Norway permanently, you will have no problems finding a job as a mechanical engineer. The market is screaming for engineers, so its not the same situation here as it is in the US.

Hard to say really, as the five universities we have here are all good. NTNU (Norwegian Technical …something… university), based in Trondheim, is by most people I would say regarded as the “best” university for engineering studies. University of Oslo and Bergen are also good. Oslo one has always been high in ratings of European universities.

In my opinion, Oslo is a horrible city. I would never want to live there. Bergen is an OK city, and Trondheim is a brilliant place.

Normannen is right about Oslo: It’s a horrible city, and in my opinion, Norway would be better of if the government, king and Storting were moved to Bergen, that was our capital the beginning.

However, I’m wondering if the University of Stavanger also have Mechanical Engineering available. If it is, then I can warmly recommend Stavanger as a place of study.
